Janet L. Schipper

Funeral services for Janet L. Schipper, 73, of Greene will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene with Pastor John Hanna officiating. Private burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene.

Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m, Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene, with a scripture service at 2:30 p.m.

Janet LaVonne Maxwell was born on February 20, 1938, in Coldwater Township, Butler Co, Iowa, a daughter of Galen and Edna (Merfeld) Maxwell and died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She attended country schools through 8th grade and graduated from Greene High School in 1955. Janet attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City graduating in 1957. She worked for the superintendent of schools in Mason City from 1958-1960.

On February 20, 1960 Janet was united in marriage to Harm Schipper. To this union was blessed one daughter, Vickie. Janet and Harm worked together farming for thirty seven years. Harm passed away December 23, 2003.

Janet was a member of the church choir, taught Sunday School, volunteered for Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging as a cook. Janet did private sitting work with the elderly and cared for young Evan Bjelica until he started kindergarten. She loved to follow North Butler Baseball and Football games. Janet was a very kind, loving and friendly person whose beautiful smile will be missed.

She is survived by her grandson Tanner Hildebrand of Greene; brothers-in-law: John (Marie) Schipper, of Greene, Ben Schipper of Ackley, Andrew (Sharon) Shipper of New Hartford; sisters-in-law: Annie Prange of Parkersburg, Jesse Peters of Aplington, Esther (Harm) Krull of Parkersburg; many cousins, nieces and nephews; one faithful canine companion ‘Debbie’.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Harm in 2003; daughter, Vickie in 2008; grandson Zachary Hildebrand in 2005.
