Darlene Dralle

Funeral services for Darlene Dralle, 74, of Greene, will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at St. John’s United Church of Christ-Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua with Rev. Lynne Busch presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. 1st Street, Greene.

Darlene Alice Dralle was born October 3, 1937 on the family farm outside Nashua the first daughter of Joe C. and Ruth (Heinmiller) Wright, and died Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital.

Darlene attended country school until her father died in 1953 and she remained home to care for her younger brothers and sisters. Later in life she completed school, graduating from AIB in Cedar Falls.

On April 8, 1956 Darlene was united in marriage with Ronald Dralle at St. John’s UCC-Pleasant Hill. This marriage was blessed with three children. Darlene and Ron farmed in the area until 1965 when they moved to Ron’s family farm and have lived there since.

For nearly 15 years Darlene operated a beauty shop at their farm and has worked as the office manager at the Charles City YMCA since the early 1990’s.

Darlene believed and lived her belief that family comes first, she loved to cook and bake for her family and thoroughly enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed bowling and spent several years in a bowling league in Greene, she also was involved many years in the local craft club.

Thankful for her in their lives are her husband of 55 years: Ron Dralle; daughter: Jolene (Jose) Infante, Waterloo; son: Jeff (Joy) Dralle, Clarksville; grandchildren: Emily, Abbey, Samantha, Zachary, Brittinae, Lucas, Erika and Kristin; sisters: Lois (Gerald) Wright, Floyd, Iowa; Linda (Chuck) Long, Lisbon, Iowa; brothers: Roger (Ann) Wright, Pueblo West, Colorado; Ron Wright, Manchester, Iowa; William (Theone) Wright, Panora, Iowa; aunts and uncles: Helen Olejniczak; Ruth and Stan Brown; Irvin and Alice Baldwin; Bob Cooper; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Darlene is preceded in death by her daughter: Janeane McIntire; brother: Larry; one sister in infancy; her parents and step-father: Ed Cunningham.
