Funeral services for Thomas Joseph Brannon, 45, of Sheffield will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Greene with Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Greene.

Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene where there will be a Scriptural Wake at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday one hour before services.

Thomas Joseph Brannon was born August 4, 1965 in Charles City, Floyd Co., a son of Emmett and Velma (Gealow) Brannon and died at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa on Saturday, February 19, 2011, after losing a courageous battle with cancer. He received his education in the public schools graduating from Greene High School in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greene where he was baptized and confirmed.

Tom was a member of the AQHA, APHA, IPHC, MPHA, PHBA.

As a young man he was engaged in farming with his father on the farmstead. Tom devoted his life to his family. He also had a passion for horses. Tom, Amy, Derek and Deven, as a family, ran “West Fork Ranch” and were all actively involved in the business of training and trading horses all over the country. Whenever you met Tom, he always had a smile on his face whether he was building fence, working with the horses, traveling or enjoying a good meal. Tom enjoyed watching the boys at their school activities. Anybody that knew Tom was well aware of his competitive spirit whether it involved horses, cards or sports.

Tom is survived by his Fiancé Amy Heitland and their sons Derek and Deven; his mother Velma Brannon of Greene; two brothers Michael (Nancy) Brannon of Parkersburg, Phillip Brannon of Marble Rock; two sisters Patricia (Dale) Mennenga of Clarksville, Jacqueline (Michael) Kramer of Shell Rock; nieces and nephews Jason, Candice (Todd) Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Brittany, Krista, Kayla, Emily, Michelle, Jeffrey, Jocelyn, Megan (Mitch) Murray, Michael(Danielle), Mason, Tanner, Hunter, Breyer, Brady, Brandon, Brianna, Brody, Breck, Jory, Corey (Ashley); aunts and uncles Donna Rogge, Jean Kohn, Doris Miller, Elmer (Clysta) Gealow, Roger (Bev) Gealow, Judy (Ed) Koler, Donald (Patti) Gealow, Diane (Greg) Riles, Amy’s parents, Gary and Darlene Lindaman, Amy’s siblings, Scott

He was preceded in death by his father, Emmett, in 2008.
